The Sports Authority India (SAI) headquarters were shut for the first half of the day as they needed to be sanitised due to detection of Covid cases. A regional director posted in the headquarters has tested positive. He is asymptomatic and has been told to go into home quarantine.
The office premises were sanitised and the entire staff assisting the regional director was given the RT-PCR test.
Interestingly, the said senior official was part of the official staff that visited Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range yesterday along with Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju. It is not clear whether Rijiju took the RT-PCR test or is in home quarantine. The minister took part in several official meetings today via video conferencing from his home.
SAI director general Sandip Pradhan, who was also part of the delegation that visited the shooting range, was one among several officials who took the test for either being the primary or secondary contact of the senior official.
There has been a rise in Covid detection in the head office in the past weeks. On Sunday, a deputy director was detected with the virus. Early this week, an assistant director showed Covid symptoms. As a result, three other assistant directors, who all came in contact, have been sent to home quarantine.
