The Lafayette General Health System and Cox announced a partnership designed to expand the use of technology for patients and health care providers.
The partnership is the first step in a multi-year project to improve hospital operations and patient experiences, and to provide more in-home health care solutions, the companies announced.
In the future, the partnership could lead to more telemedicine and digital health applications, as well as patient monitoring, through Cox’s New Growth and Development organization and Lafayette General Health’s Innovation Fund.
“We’ve always been impressed with the amount of innovation coming out of LGH, and we’re thrilled to partner with them on this new initiative,” said Leigh King, Cox Business Louisiana vice president.
Lafayette General will be a “sandbox” testing site to improve health care solutions that could be used at LGH and around the country.
Mike Dozier, the health system’s chief information officer, said the partnership will allow Lafayette General to “future-proof” its health system.
“Restoring, maintaining and improving health in the people and communities we serve is at the core of everything we do. Partnering with Cox on this initiative to enhance our operations further underscores this mission,” Dozier said.
Lafayette General and Cox Communications have had previous partnerships. This year, Cox gave all Southwest Louisiana residents an on-demand video channel with local telemedicine options, including Lafayette General’s Health Anywhere.
“More and more, the provision of health care occurs outside the walls of the hospital and doctor’s office,” said Cian Robinson, executive director of research, innovation and real estate investments for Lafayette General. “Having the ability to reach our patients in their homes and via the device/technology platform they choose will be essential. Through our partnership with Cox, we will be able to focus on the patient, providing them the right care, at the right time and the right place.”
